Several Vermont Tech engineering technology students have medaled in statewide SkillsUSA competitions, held recently on Vermont Tech campuses.
GOLD, Automated Manufacturing Technology – Mark Turco of Mount Holly, VT, Casey Baroffio of Northfield, VT, and Matt Stanislas of St. Albans, VT
GOLD, Additive Manufacturing – Deema AL Namee of South Burlington, VT and Aric Donerkiel of Colchester, VT
GOLD, Technical Drafting – Caleb White of Chester, VT
GOLD, Job Skills Demonstration A – Wes McEntee of Hinesburg, VT
GOLD, Related Technical Math – Blake Nemeth of Johnson, VT
BRONZE, Additive Manufacturing – Aaron Hogan of Jericho, VT and Nathan (Nate) Whipple of Wallingford, VT.
“Vermont Tech is proud of all of them as students and as statewide competitors,” said Christopher Gray, Assistant Professor of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology at Vermont Tech. “They have chosen to go above and beyond what is expected and challenge their skills and knowledge against national standards, which represent the highest standards for technical education in the country.”
This is the second year that Vermont Tech has fielded a collegiate competitive team. Last year’s team placed fifth in the country at the Nationals. This year’s college students will compete in the Nationals to be held in Kentucky this June.
In Vermont and regional SkillsUSA events, Vermont Tech awards scholarships to first, second and third place winners for high school and college students.
Vermont Tech’s Randolph and Williston Campuses hosted the Vermont statewide competitions of Manufacturing and Nursing respectively. Randolph’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing labs were the ideal spot to test students on additive manufacturing, related technical math and more. Visiting nursing students were pleased to make use of our Williston Nursing facilities, where they were tested on job skills, Nurse assisting, and other related skills.
