The J. Warren & Lois McClure Foundation has identified “best bet” career training programs for Vermonters in 2021 that lead to a recognized credential and a great shot at attaining a promising job within 18 months.

Additional scholarships for these “best bet” programs are available through the Curtis Fund, administered by the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation. To learn more about VSAC-connected scholarships, call (877) 961-4369 to connect with an education outreach counselor.

SME Education Foundation

The SME Education Foundation annually awards millions of dollars in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students pursuing two-year, four-year or advanced degrees in manufacturing or engineering.  One application gives graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students access to nearly 60 different scholarships.

Hartford Technology Rentals has been in the short term technology rental business for over 25 years. We feel that it is important to give back. We are offering two $1000 scholarships that are available to students studying in the IT or related fields. Simply fill out the form and tell us about yourself and what you hope to do with your IT degree in the short essay form. One scholarship will be awarded in December and one in May (Cut-off dates: 5/15 & 12/15). You may apply for both scholarships separately.

Scholarships are awarded based on the following and for the academic year following the application deadline beginning with the fall semester:

  • Full-time enrollment in an accredited undergraduate engineering or engineering technology program recognized by ASHRAE and listed for each scholarship.  (Note: enrollment in an architecture program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) at a school in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia is accepted for Region IV Benny Bootle Scholarship)
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest and/or a class ranking of no less than 30% evidenced by submission of an official transcript of grades and/or statement from a school administrator
  • Three letters of recommendation, including one from an instructor or faculty advisor, a current or past employer, and another character reference.  In the case of institutions with an ASHRAE student branch, a letter from the faculty advisor of that branch may be one of the three letters of recommendation.
  • Evaluation Form completed and submitted by the Student Activities Chair or other officer of the nearest ASHRAE chapter following an interview with the applicant
  • Potential service to the HVAC&R profession
  • Financial need
  • Leadership ability (activities, leadership roles, community service, etc.)
  • Work ethics (summer jobs, part-time jobs, etc.)

Aero Club of New England Scholarships

The Aero Club of New England, in an effort to assist and promote professional aviation careers, started its scholarship program in 1984 and has awarded scholarships to men and women since 1987, totaling more than $459,000.  These scholarships are awarded based upon the applicants merit, performance and demonstrated financial need.
