Public Notice of Pre-Accreditation Candidacy Application Submission

Vermont Technical College is pursuing pre-accreditation candidacy status from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), located at 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20037; phone (202) 909-2500. Interested parties are invited to submit third party comments in writing directly to NLN CNEA, attention Melanie Prince, NLN CNEA Manager of Accreditation Services, no later than April 9, 2018.

Pre-accreditation candidacy is desired for Vermont Tech’s Practical Nursing Certificate Program, Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. As nursing program stakeholders, we encourage faculty, students, administrators, alumnae and other community members to submit program related comments directly to the NLN CNEA. Comments will be shared with the NLN CNEA Initial Program Application Subcommittee and Board of Commissioners as well as Vermont Tech’s Associate Dean of Nursing. The Associate Dean of Nursing will also be given the opportunity to respond to comments.

Vermont Tech and NLN CNEA have established the following pre-accreditation timetable:

April 9, 2018 – Vermont Tech Nursing application for pre-accreditation candidacy due to NLN CNEA and public comments due to NLN CNEA.

April 26, 2018 – NLN CNEA Initial Program Application Subcommittee reviews the pre-accreditation candidacy application & make recommendation to Board of Commissioners.

June 14 & 15, 2018 – NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners reviews the pre-accreditation candidacy application & the NLN CNEA Initial Program Application Subcommittee’s recommendation & renders candidacy decision. Three year window for NLN CNEA accreditation begins if candidacy is granted.

In the case that pre-accreditation candidacy is granted, the following timetable will apply:

December 2018 – Formal written request for accreditation visit in Fall 2019.

January 2019 – Post public notice for comments regarding the accreditation of Vermont Tech Nursing Programs.

September 2019 – Self-Study due to be submitted to the NLN CNEA.

November 2019 – NLN CNEA site visit.

January 2020 – NLN CNEA Program Review Committee reviews site visit report & makes recommendation to NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners.

February 2020 – NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners reviews site visit report & Program Review Committee’s recommendation & renders accreditation decision.
