In 2017, the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) department of Vermont Technical College, an institution of the Vermont State Colleges System, contracted with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for workforce training in Leadership and Financial Accounting. DHS contracted for leadership for supervisors as well as a separate program for non-supervisors in leadership, which was delivered over the course of five weeks in five individual training days to no more than 15 employees per program. The Financial Accounting contract included a college-level credit course in each of the fall and spring semesters of the 2017-2018 academic year for the Financial Operations – Burlington unit of DHS.
The contracts with DHS are exemplary of CEWD’s relationship as a service provider to many businesses, agencies, and organizations for the development of their incumbent employees.
Providing leadership and financial accounting training to the employees of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement falls within the scope of the college’s value to the state in providing workforce training and development to the people of Vermont and the region.
