William Guillen

William Guillen likes helping people. He is fascinated by the human body and how it works and wanted a career that reflected that. William is part of the Respiratory Therapy program at Vermont Tech. It’s a fast-paced program designed to be completed in two years.

“This career brings you to the helm of the medical field with many options for learning,” says William.

William didn’t always want to go into medical work. After high school, he wasn’t certain of his path, so he took some time off before college.

“Everyone goes through life at their own pace, so the time I took off really helped me grow as an adult.”

Vermont Tech appealed to William’s desire to get a personal education.

“I chose Vermont Tech because of the opportunities it gives to many students. I have been in large classes before and you really don’t get the personal learning that really sticks with you for the rest of your life.”

The Respiratory Therapy program is not for the faint of heart. William recommends that new students take their classes seriously, and be ready to study. He has received support from all of his professors and says, “If I have any questions, I feel very comfortable going up to any faculty member to ask them for help.”
William has also formed friendships with many of his classmates.

“I really enjoy the group of students that are in my program, everyone really seems to get along. I will always consider my fellow classmates as friends that I can rely on.”

When he isn’t in the classroom or in the lab William plays baseball in the Green Mountain League.

William encourages others to explore Respiratory Therapy.

“If you really enjoy helping others in a fast pace and invigorating environment this may be the right program for you.”
