Tonah Clairmont

Tonah came to Vermont Tech as an experienced LPN looking to further her career and expand her options. Tonah has been practicing nursing in Vermont for 8 years. Many of her friends attended Vermont Tech and had rave reviews about the ADN program and teachers.

As a nursing professional and a mother of three young children, Tonah needed a college that allowed her to have a reasonable work-life balance.

“Vermont Tech makes it so that I can be a parent and a nursing student. I don’t have to choose.”

Tonah started college as a business student, but realized that business was not her calling and instead, attended LPN school in New York.

“Nursing has always been a passion of mine. I love getting to know peoples backgrounds and finding out what I can do to improve their day.”

Tonah also musically gifted and uses the healing power of song to bring cheer to her patients.

“I have been signing since I was a teenager and sing to my patients all of the time.”

Tonah credits her professors and instructors as being positive and encouraging.

“Anna May Seaver is one of the best nursing instructors that I have ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable and involved in our class. She is passionate about her job and it shows.”

Nursing is no cake walk but Tonah says that “it is extremely rewarding to look back and see how far you have come.”

Tonah encourages all students to maintain an optimistic attitude and take advantage of every learning opportunity that comes along.
