As a kid, Matt Franzosa always liked building things with his hands. By the time he was a senior in high school, he knew he wanted to be in construction. He was thrilled to find a school like Vermont Tech, which offered construction management as a major.
Matt admits to struggling academically when he first arrived. Fortunately, the faculty organized tutoring sessions for him, and his advisors encouraged him to set a high standard for achievement. He was determined to graduate with a job, and Career Services used their extensive network to line up interviews for Matt, which led to what he felt was a “great offer.”
“Vermont Tech is a tight-knit community,” Matt says. “The friends you make are friends you’ll have for the rest of your life.”
Matt now works for ReArch, a construction management firm in South Burlington, Vermont as a Project Engineer II. He relies on his quick and accurate communication and technical skills to get the job done. He credits Vermont Tech for preparing him so well. In the past he worked for DEW Construction, Parsons Brickerhoff, and PC construction.
“Professionals tell me how conscientious I am and how in-depth my work is,” says Matt. “Vermont Tech didn’t just help me get a job. It helped me start a career.”
