Non-degree Student Registration

Vermont Tech offers non-degree enrollment to students who wish to take undergraduate courses but not pursue an undergraduate degree. The general population includes:

  • A student from another college who wants to take a course but will graduate from another institution
  • A student needing additional credits to qualify for graduation
  • A high school student who plans to take college-level courses during high school
  • A person who is taking class for personal enrichment but not a program
  • Senior Citizen
Registration & Advising

Registration for courses is subject to availability and does not guarantee enrollment. You will not be assigned an academic advisor.  You must meet the required prerequisite for the course and abide by the same academic regulations and standards as a degree student.  Access the Non-Degree Registration Form here.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Non-degree students are not eligible for federal financial aid. Vermont residents can apply for a Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) Non-Degree Grant at www.vsac.org.

Tuition is charged per course credit. Most courses count as three credits. Science courses with labs are four credits.

Auditing

Auditing a course allows students to take class without the benefit of credit or grade of a course. The course offered is on a space-available basis with the approval of the instructor of the course.

Note: Audit courses do not fulfill degree requirements.

Senior Citizen Discount

Any student aged 65 years or older may audit one VSC course per enrollment period without tuition charge. Additional courses may be taken without limitation, up to and including completion of a certificate or undergraduate degree, at the rate of 50% of the charged tuition. To be eligible, such persons may not take the place of full tuition-paying students in courses with enrollment limits. Course-specific fees, including Registration fees, shall be the responsibility of the student. All other student fees are waived.
