Brattleboro Campus

The Brattleboro Campus of the Vermont Tech Nursing Program began as the Thompson School of Nursing shortly after the Civil War and holds the distinction of being one of the first practical schools of nursing in the US.  It has been in continuous existence since 1907 when funds from Thomas Thompson’s estate made it possible and became part of Vermont Technical College in 1994. In 2015, Vermont Tech’s Brattleboro campus, which, along with the Springfield Campus, comprises Vermont Tech’s Nursing Program’s Southeast Region, moved from a historic former barn on the outskirts of town to the second floor of the beautifully restored Brooks House on Main Street. The Brooks House was a resort, inn and tavern in the 1800s with many visitors, including author Rudyard Kipling.  Vermont Tech shares its campus with CCV and is comprised of two nursing classrooms, a Telepresence room, nursing skills lab and simulation lab with an adult and pediatric simulators.

Students from this area attend class on the Brattleboro Campus. Most clinical experiences for students are in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire.
