Manufacturing Engineering Technology
The manufacturing sector is an opportunity for careers with high skills and a large number of jobs. According to the industry report, “Boiling Point? The Skills Gap in U.S. Manufacturing” by the Manufacturing Institute, 82% of American manufacturers reported a shortage of highly-skilled workers, equating to approximately 600,000 high-skill manufacturing positions that are currently going unfilled.
The Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology program prepares graduates for a career applying technical knowledge and leadership skills to contribute to manufacturing competitiveness through process and systems design, operations, quality, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and sustainability. Graduates are prepared to employ strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills and participate productively on professional teams and to develop and continuously improve in a career in manufacturing or a related field.
The program’s format is designed to be accessible and flexible for both full-time students and working professionals. The program uses distance learning lectures and bundled lab sessions and the degree requirements allow for transfer of course credits from other programs and institutions.
