This course introduces the concepts of wind power and associated technology. Topics addressed include the principles of wind energy and resource assessment; rotor and blade designs and the mechanical and electrical principles of wind turbine systems; different types of applications; and the economics and current policies related to wind power. The lab portion of the course involves the installation of anemometry equipment and data evaluation; fabrication and testing of simple rotors; turbine systems; and monitoring and evaluation of installed systems.
