This course teaches the student how to estimate the market potential for a business idea and provides a realistic experience in the process of preparing a business plan that attracts lenders or investors. The student should already have a business idea or a technology to develop. The course emphasizes the importance of market research and the collection of the information necessary to establish the viability and sustainability of a business idea. There is a heavy emphasis on knowing the target market; analyzing competition; and anticipating how the external environment affects a business. During the semester, the student will repeatedly defend their ideas with peers and invited guests. The development and presentation of a sound business plan is the final product.
