____Have you completed your Application for Graduation?
Students who plan to graduate in May 2022 should have completed their graduation application by December 3, 2021. PN students who plan to graduate in June must complete their graduation application by April 25, 2022. The application can be found on Self Service. Applications not received by April 29 for May ceremonies, and June 3 for the PN ceremony, will not make the Commencement program.
Whether a student plans to participate in the actual ceremony or not, the application and the graduation fee are required to have your degree awarded.
A student within 7 credits of the graduation requirements who has applied to walk on their application and has the recommendation of their department may participate as a walker. Although walkers participate in the graduation ceremony, they don’t actually graduate until they have successfully completed all graduation requirements and are recommended by their departments. A walker who subsequently completes their degree requirements must reapply for a diploma that’s mailed after approval and the next commencement. Walkers are expected to complete their remaining requirements within one year.
____ Have you paid your Graduation Fee?
The Graduation Fee of $125 is added to your bill after the Registrars’ Office has received and processed your graduation application. This fee is set by the Vermont State College Board of Trustees and is charged to every graduate’s account. This fee covers the administrative aspects of graduation and is not tied to the Commencement ceremony itself, nor does it include the cost of your cap and gown.
___ Do You Have a Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan?
If so, you are required to complete a Loan Exit Counseling session online to review your rights and responsibilities under this federal loan program. Log-in to www.studentaid.gov to complete your online counseling. Exit counseling takes about 30 minutes to complete. You must complete it on one session; you cannot save and return to an incomplete session.
___ Have you completed your Graduation/Employment Survey?
Instructions on how to complete the graduation survey will be sent to your Vermont Tech email by May 8.
___ Have you ordered your cap, gown and hood?
If you have a plain black cap and gown from a previous graduation, a new gown is not necessary. You will need to order a 2022 black tassel for all programs and 2022 tassel and hood for the Bachelor degree programs.
Order your regalia directly from Balfour by April 15.
Please check your live billing statement on your Self Service account for any balance due or you may check directly with the Student Accounts Office. All charges must be paid in full to receive your diploma and transcript.
Tickets to the Ceremony
Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony and we are no longer limiting guests.
Commencement will be held under the tent, on the lawn of the President’s House, on the Randolph Center, Vermont campus. It is generally cooler under the tent, particularly for the morning ceremonies. Do plan accordingly.
GradImages provides the photography services at the Commencement ceremony. Proofs will be available online or through the mail. There is no obligation to buy. Graduates are required to complete a readers card prior to the Commencement ceremony. These cards are used by the company to send proofs.
