Civil & Environmental Engineering

Mission Statement

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Technology Program serves its students, the state of Vermont, and the region by providing high-quality Civil and Environmental Engineering Technicians through a broad-based curriculum that prepares graduates for the workplace, for continuing formal education, and for lifelong learning.

Program Educational Objectives

The CEET program is intended to provide students with the technical and communications skills to work as engineering technicians in industry. Students find work in government agencies, engineering design firms, construction companies, land surveying companies and materials testing laboratories. It is a goal of the program to be broad enough so that students will be able to choose from all of these opportunities. A number of students continue in four-year programs, obtaining bachelor's degrees. Although the program's primary goal is to prepare students for work in industry, preparation for further education is also a major goal. The program education objectives are:

  1. Provide students with a high quality, post secondary education giving the student the capability to be immediately employable as civil engineering technicians.
  2. Provide students with the background for them to be able to continue their learning in the future either through formal education or by learning and adapting to changing technology in the workplace.
  3. Assist students with personal and social development that will help to make them good citizens in their communities and to lead full, enjoyable lives.
  4. Provide employers in the civil engineering and construction industries in Vermont and elsewhere with qualified graduates.
