Engineering
The General Engineering Technology (GET) degree program is designed to support the workforce education needs of a variety of companies and industries seeking engineering technology degree opportunities. This out-reach degree program is administered by the Technology Extension Division. The GET degree program is industry sponsored and offered primarily at the facilities of sponsoring organization.
The curriculum consists of initial courses which consist of math, physics, English, technical communication and electives. The remaining courses include technical courses specific to the educational needs assessments conducted within the organization. A team consisting of Vermont Tech faculty and representatives at the sponsoring organization design the curriculum of technical courses.
The program offers an application-oriented science and technology curricula delivered in nontraditional modes to accommodate student and industry needs. The goal is to offer students a flexible, interdisciplinary path to the acquisition of basic engineering concepts and specific job-related skills needed to excel in their current career position and prepare for the student for career growth.
Organizations participating in Vermont Tech’s General Engineering Technology degree include: IBM - Semiconductor Processing; IBM – Electronics; BF Goodrich – Aerospace Electronics; EHV- Weidmann –Manufacturing; and General Electric – Electro-Mechanical.
