The TRIO/SSS program is a federal program aimed at helping first generation and low-income students, and students with a disability succeed in college. The program offers additional assistance to students in the following areas:
- Personal counseling
- Student skills assistance
- Individual help with reading and writing
- Career counseling and occupational information
- Transfer counseling
- Cultural events and trips
- Support groups
- Individual tutoring for most courses
- Workshops on personal and academic issues
- Mentoring
- Emergency funds for single parents and displaced home makers
The SSS Program is a federally funded Title IV Project. $272,392 or 100% of the project costs are financed through the United States Department of Education to provide support services to first-generation college students, low-income college students, and students with disabilities.
