Financial Aid Calendar

January

Submit your FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA between January 1 and March 1 to be considered on time. Go on-line to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to complete your FAFSA. Submit your state grant applications if your state requires a separate application. Vermont residents can apply for a state grant at http://www.vsac.org/.

February

Remember the FAFSA priority date of March 1 to be considered on-time.

March

Application deadline for students applying for Vermont Tech scholarships is March 15. Check out our scholarship pages, Premier Scholarships and Scholarships. First-time student award letters are mailed to students beginning in mid March.

Graduating students with loans must attend a group student loan "Exit Counseling" session to obtain information on total loan debt and to complete the required forms.

April

Submit any financial aid document tracking follow up to the aid office. On-line "Exit Counseling" reminders to graduates who missed group sessions.

May

Continue to follow up with any document tracking requests. Loan Exit Counseling sessions will be held at LPN sites for graduating LPNs to receive loan debt and repayment information regarding their federal loans.

June

  • Award notifications will begin to arrive from state grant agencies such as VSAC.

  • First-year students' fall bills are mailed to home addresses end of June.

  • Returning students' financial aid award letters are mailed to home addresses.

  • Returning students' fall bills are mailed to home addresses end of June.

July

First-time William D. Ford Direct Loan borrowers must have completed their Loan Entrance Counseling Session at: www.dl.ed.gov and sign their Master Promissory Note on-line at www.dlenote.ed.gov. Direct Parent Loan (PLUS) borrowers can go on-line to sign their Master Promissory Note at www.dlenote.ed.gov.

August

Fall student bill payment is due. Student bills can also be paid on-line at VSC Portal. First-time borrowers of Stafford Loans must have returned their Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note to lender. First time Perkins Loan borrowers' promissory notes are mailed to students' home addresses and students need to complete and return forms to the financial aid office.

Work Study Job Fair is scheduled during registration weekend for college work study recipients to begin their job selection.

September

Final meal plan changes must be completed by mid-September

Health insurance waiver form must be submitted to Student Services by early-September or you are billed for Health Insurance charges.

You have arrived on campus! Remember to study, go to classes and enjoy your Vermont Tech experience!

REMEMBER: Check your campus email and dorm mailboxes regularly to receive timely communication from administration on billing, financial aid and academic information.

October

Students whose bills are not paid will be assessed a late fee.

November

A financial hold will be placed on all unpaid student accounts on November 1.
Be sure to carefully check your e-mail for the Renewal FAFSA if you submitted your FAFSA on-line. If you completed a paper FAFSA, watch for a paper Renewal FAFSA in your mail.

December

Returning students should have received your Renewal FAFSA's, which is to be submitted between January 1 and March 1, to be on-time . If you and/or your parent's have not completed your Federal taxes, complete the FAFSA with estimated information to ensure that you are on time.
