Scott A. Sabol, PE, is a native Vermonter who grew up in Northfield (about 15 miles north of Vermont Tech’s Randolph Center campus).  He has degrees in engineering science and civil engineering from Dartmouth College and Penn State University.  He has worked as a structural engineer (working on buildings, bridges, and other structures), a researcher, a project manager, and since 1999 has been a faculty member at Vermont Tech, where he teaches primarily in the areas of structural engineering and engineering management.  He also is an adjunct instructor of engineering in the School of Graduate Studies at Norwich University.

Professor Sabol has worked for local consulting firms such as Doherty Consulting Engineers and Dubois & King, and has also been with national groups such as the National Research Council in Washington, DC.  He was the Director of the Delaware Transportation Institute in the 1990s, during which time he helped with the design and construction of one of the first fiber-reinforced roadway bridges in the United States.  He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning Engineers, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Vermont.
