Extended Campuses |  | The respiratory therapy program is delivered at the Williston campus and at extended clinical sites. The extended clinical sites are housed at primary clinical affiliate hospitals. All respiratory didactic courses are delivered at Vermont Interactive Television (VIT) studios located near each clinical site. Respiratory lab courses are delivered at the primary program site and at the extended clinical facilities. Respiratory clinical courses are delivered at the primary clinical sites and other affiliate hospitals located in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire.
Science, math, English, Art/Humanities electives are provided at the Williston campus and at the Community College of Vermont.
The Williston campus is located approximately 6 miles south of Burlington. The Williston campus includes a Vermont Interactive Television studio, nursing and allied health classrooms and labs, a library, a student resource center, a student lounge, and faculty offices. The Williston campus accepts a maximum of 15 students per class. Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) is a primary clinical site located near the Williston campus.
Each extended site accepts a maximum of 6 students to each class. The Newport site accepts a class each year and Rutland accepts a class every other year. Both extended sites utilize educational classrooms and labs at the clinical facilities. The offices of the Student Support Services of Vermont Technical College are located at the Williston and Randolph campuses. Extended site students have full access to the student support services located on the Williston and Randolph campuses.
The Newport site utilizes the Vermont Interactive Television studio located at the North Country Union High School. North Country Hospital (NCH) is the primary clinical site at Newport. North Country Hospital provides a lab and a library for the respiratory therapy students. The Newport students must travel to FAHC approximately two weeks in the summer session and must complete all second-year clinical courses at FAHC. Students at all sites are required to travel to additional hospital sites at a distance away from their local site beginning in summer session and continuing throughout the second-year of the program.
The Rutland site utilizes the Vermont Interactive Television studio located at the Stafford Technical Center. Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) is the primary clinical site at Rutland. Rutland Regional Medical Center provides a lab and a library for the respiratory therapy students. The Rutland students must travel to FAHC approximately six weeks during the duration of the program to complete non-critical care, neonatal and pediatric intensive care rotations. Students at all sites are required to travel to additional hospital sites at a distance away from their local site beginning in summer session and continuing throughout the second-year of the program. The faculty of the respiratory program use Blackboard to provide students with handouts, assignments, examinations, and a grade book.
