|Graduates of the Architectural and Building Engineering Technology program are prepared for a wide range of construction industry-related careers at the technical and design support level. They typically work in responsible positions with architects, engineers, and building contractors and provide all levels of support to the building industry in manufacturing, sales, and governmental administration. Graduates of the program are also prepared to transfer to bachelor degree programs in architecture or engineering, including Vermont Tech's Architectural Engineering Technology program.|
Students receive a thorough introduction to the fundamental skills of architectural and engineering drafting, including instruction in CAD systems, along with an academic foundation of physics, mathematics, and technical writing. Practical projects involve laboratory testing and field observation of construction. Extensive exposure to architectural design, history, construction materials, construction methods, structural engineering, surveying, estimating, heating, ventilating, plumbing, and energy-conscious design round out this very comprehensive associate’s degree program.
