Allow Us to Introduce: Faye Tolar, M.Ed, RRT Department Chair of Respiratory Therapy
Growing up in Indianapolis, Faye attended Indiana University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, continued on for her Certificate in Respiratory Therapy from Northwestern Medical School and then to her Masters of Education from Trinity College. She has worked for University of Virginia Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist and Piedmont Virginia Community College as a Clinical Coordinator. She spent time with the Medical College of Virginia Hospital as an Education Coordinator, Fletcher Allen Health Care as a Respiratory Therapist and Champlain College as the Program Director for the Respiratory Therapy program before coming to Vermont Tech in 2004.
Faye is affiliated with the American Associate for Respiratory Care and the Vermont/New Hampshire Society for Respiratory Care. Previously a Secretary and Delegate for the AARC’s Political Advocacy Contact Team, she is now currently their Vermont representative. Since 1986, Faye has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist and is currently licensed in the state of Vermont as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Faye finds the discipline of respiratory care to be very rewarding and challenging – it is a dynamic field combining high technology with direct patient care. She really loves respiratory care and especially enjoys sharing it with others. As an educator, she enjoys most being able to help students understand the concepts behind the delivery of respiratory care.
