Allow Us to Introduce: Jessie Benway

Class of 2010

Jessie comes to Vermont Tech from Burlington, Vermont where she grew up and has lived all her life. As a child, she always enjoyed going to the dentist and has been interested in the field for a long time.

Jessie spent her senior year of high school in the dental program at Essex Tech Center and her first job, at the age of sixteen, was sterilizing dental instruments. After high school she worked as a dental assistant for a couple of years before applying to and being accepted into the Dental Hygiene program at Vermont Tech.

She has been very impressed with the Dental Hygiene faculty. She says "The professors here make you feel at home. It's not one of those colleges where you're a number. They know your name and everyone says hello. It's a nice feeling during a difficult program."

After college, Jessie would like to do some mission work in the Dominican Republic and start her career as a dental hygienist. Many of her professors are or have been involved in the Vermont Dental Hygiene Association and this is something she would like to do as well.
