Allow Us to Introduce: Iris Davis Class(es) of 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011
Iris is from Moretown, VT where she grew up on a dairy farm. Knowing that farming wasn't what she wanted to do in life, she took the opportunity to be a member of the VAST (Vermont Academy of Science and Technology) Class of 2007 where she was able to complete her freshman year of college, earn her high school diploma, and still participate in activities at her sending high school. She returned in the fall of ‘07 as a sophomore, graduating in 2008 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural and Building Engineering Technology.
Knowing she wanted to continue her studies, Iris returned in the fall of ‘08 to begin work on her Bachelor of Science degree, which she earned with the class of 2010. Then, after considering both the economy and future of the Architectural industry – as well as her desire to contribute more to the planet than just her engineering skills – Iris graduated in 2011 with a second Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Design and Technology.
During her years at Vermont Tech, Iris has been a member of both the women’s soccer and softball teams; she worked as an Admissions tour guide; she traveled twice to Europe with the College’s European Seminar program; she was an active member of ASHRAE; and she personally conceived, organized and founded the Vermont Technical College Band. She has also been involved in a number of community organizations, including the Vermont Philharmonic.
Following graduation, Iris was torn between wanting to enter the work force and wanting to travel. She found a way to have the best of both worlds and now works on cruise ships!
