Dental Hygiene student works on another student at the Williston campus of Vermont Tech.

A new health practitioner credential was featured on the Champlain valley FOX44 and ABC22 news. Vermont Technical College is laying out the groundwork for students to become dental therapists. It's a new position in Vermont, which aims to provide services to more patients.  The Vermont legislature passed a bill this session to license dental therapists. When Samantha Chu graduated from Vermont Tech in 2008, the country was in the middle of a deep recession. Jobs were scarce, even for the highly trained and qualified.

“The year I graduated was hard,” she remembers. “I had a hard time finding a career that fit me well.” Fortunately, the business management technology grad had a role model who served her well.
