The information below will take you through the steps for a successful commencement experience. Graduates should also reference the graduation checklist. If you have any questions, please email Nancy Guild or call (802) 728-1212.
There will be three (3) commencement ceremonies held on the Vermont Technical College Randolph Center campus.
Graduates! Please be on campus at least one hour prior to your commencement time: Saturday morning ceremony: 9 am; Saturday afternoon ceremony: 2 pm; Sunday morning ceremony: 9:30 am.
You will be meeting in the SHAPE gym. Students must check in no later than 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony. For those of you not familiar with the Randolph Center campus, please refer to the map at the right.
All graduate parking will be in the lower parking lots unless you have special needs for yourself or passengers. (i.e. wheelchair, walker, or difficulties walking a long distance).
Special needs parking will be in the Morey/SHAPE parking lots; please follow road signs.
Please plan ahead for traffic coming to and leaving campus. Watch for volunteers directing traffic.
Because this is Vermont, the weather can change very quickly. Please watch the weather forecast and plan accordingly.
We will have interpreter services and a special section for seating for those in need of this service.

ALL BILLS MUST BE PAID:
Please note that Vermont Tech will not release your diploma or official academic transcript if you have any outstanding financial obligations to the College. Also, diplomas and transcripts may not be released if you have any outstanding obligations at the following places:
- Library (fines or missing books)
- Academic departments (equipment, books, other college property)
- Athletic department (equipment, uniforms)
- Residence Halls (damage fines)
- Public Safety (parking fines)
CAPS AND GOWNS:
If you are planning to participate in the May, 2017 Commencement, it is your responsibility to order regalia from University Cap & Gown. Students will not be permitted to participate in Commencement without appropriate regalia. Please order your cap and gown prior to April 14, 2017 (See the Checklist for ordering information).
Commencement will be held under the tent, on the lawn of the President’s House, on the Randolph Center, Vermont campus. Please refer to the department list at the top to find out when your major will be graduating.
The College maintains the expectation that all degree candidates will be appropriately attired and display acceptable standards of behavior.
Vermont Tech requests that no food or beverages other than water be brought into the tent area. NO PETS of any kind are allowed on the campus. Please be sure any guests leave their pets at home. Certified Service Animals are allowed.
TICKETS TO THE CEREMONY:
Tickets are not required for your guests to attend the ceremony.
We request that you encourage your guests to car pool since parking is limited. Most parking will be a 5-10 minute walk from the President’s House. Handicap parking will be available. Please be sure to display a handicap sign or plate. Golf cart shuttle service will be available from parking lots.
GradImages provides the photography services at the Commencement ceremony. Proofs will be available online or through the mail. There is no obligation to buy. Graduates are required to complete a readers card prior to the Commencement ceremony. These cards are used by the company to send proofs.
Your name will be read when you proceed to receive your diploma. While you are in SHAPE prior to the beginning of the ceremony, you will be given a reader’s card. If your name is difficult to pronounce or spelled incorrectly, please print a phonetic spelling on your reader’s card.
To be eligible for graduation honors, a degree student must:
- Have a minimum of 30 credits for an associate degree and a minimum of 60 credits for a bachelor’s degree completed within the VSC
- Have achieved the following cumulative GPA for all coursework:
Cum laude: 3.5
Magna cum laude: 3.7
Summa cum laude: 3.9
To be eligible for graduation honors, a certificate student must:
- Complete 50% of degree requirements within the VSC
- Have achieved the following cumulative GPA for all coursework
High Honors: 3.5 or above
A transcript is a copy of a student’s permanent record of attendance at the College and cannot be altered. Current or former students may request that the College issue an official transcript of his or her record to any school, employer or other agency. For each transcript, students must submit a written, signed request to the Registrars’ Office. A transcript fee will be charged. Transcripts will be sent as soon as possible. Please allow a minimum of five days for normal processing and three weeks following the end of a term. Transcripts will not be sent for a student who has not satisfied financial obligations with the College. Graduates will receive one unofficial transcript with their diploma when mailed.
Graduates should view the Graduate Checklist for specific information regarding regalia, paying bills, financial aid counseling, etc.
