Dental Hygiene

New for 2014:

Vermont Tech now offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree and a two-year degree completion program for students who already have an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene and wish to continue their education and obtain their Bachelor Degree.

Students pursuing an bachelorís degree in Dental Hygiene wish to work as dental hygienists. Employment of dental hygienists is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations in the immediate future in response to increasing demand for dental care.

The dental hygiene profession is primarily educational and preventative in nature and offers opportunities to work in a variety of health care settings, including general and specialty dental practices, community health agencies, and public schools. Graduates of the dental hygiene program can also expect a high level of professional demand from employers in the private dental practice setting.

Graduates of the bachelorís program have access to more educational and career opportunities than students who have only completed an associateís degree in Dental Hygiene. Career areas where the advanced degree would be advantageous include jobs in dental hygiene research, sales, public health, and education.

100% of 2009 Dental Hygiene graduates were successful on their National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and all sections of the Northeast Regional Board Clinical Examination.
