Student Employment Process
|College Work Study is a federally funded program designed to enable students in need of financial help with educational costs. Work-Study is a need-based program. In order to qualify for federal work-study, the Financial Aid Office must have received your processed electronic Federal application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you must be enrolled in at least 6 credits and working towards a degree at Vermont Tech.|

Federal Work Study Forms Before you can receive a paycheck there are four forms that have to be filled out and submitted to the Financial Aid Office. They are the
The W4 Form must be kept on file with the payroll department, since it lists the allowances, which will be used as deductions from your weekly earnings.
U.S. immigration laws require that all new employees complete an I-9 Form within three business days of the date of hire. This applies to work study students as well. The required documentation must be reviewed and verified before you can begin work. You will need two forms of identification to complete this form, preferably a driver's license and social security card.
Once you have completed an I-9 and W-4 Form you will be issued a Work-Study Contract.
The work study contract outlines the conditions that you must meet in order to be employed under the Federal Work Study program. It also identifies you as a participant in Vermont Tech's work study program. The Financial Aid Office will complete section A, your supervisor will complete section B, and you must sign and date it in section C. You will be responsible for returning the completed form to the Financial Aid Office. You may not begin work until the contract is completed.
Timesheets & Payment All timesheets must be submitted electronically through the Web Time Entry System via Webservices every other Wednesday according to the payroll schedule. Direct deposit of your payroll check is available by completing and submitting the Direct Deposit Authorization Form to the Business Office.
If direct deposit is not initiated, payroll checks are automatically mailed home to your permanent address. To receive checks at your campus address a Payroll Address Form must be completed and submitted to the Business Office.
