The American Red Cross called, and Vermont Tech answered. On January 26, the Williston campus hosted a blood drive, with 82 people signing in to donate.
The need for blood is critical in the winter — holiday travel, inclement weather, and illness all combine to increase the demand for blood, while donations typically drop. January is actually National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.
"We can’t thank Vermont Tech enough," said Jennifer Bergeron, donor recruitment representative for the American Red Cross, Northern New England Blood Services. “It was a great turnout — I’d like to thank Associate Dean Jean-Marie Clark and everyone else who made it such a huge success. Given the response, we’d like to work toward a regular schedule of blood drives at Vermont Tech.”
