In this course, the student learns the technical skills needed to be a successful vegetable and fruit producer. Most students take this course after their first year of agricultural education. If a student takes this course prior to their first year, it inspires their classroom learning experience. This summer course gives the student the opportunity to put academic knowledge to work. The student learns about organic management of fruits and vegetables ranging from pest and disease control to washing and handling practices and is introduced to field cultivation and management techniques. They have the opportunity to use and be introduced to the appropriate equipment used on vegetable and fruit farms and get hands-on experience with managerial aspect of farming.
