For most prospective students, applying to college is the first step toward embarking on an exciting, challenging, and enjoyable experience - one that results in a college degree.
The admission process involves a total picture of all applicants and includes a review of all transcripts, letters of recommendations, prior work or extra-curricular experience, and performance on the standardized tests, if applicable.
Admission is offered to those candidates whose credentials indicate the greatest promise of success in their chosen academic pursuits. While campus visits and interviews are not required for most programs, they are strongly advised and may be requested.
At Vermont Tech, we strive to make the application process as convenient as possible, and encourage you to:

Current Students and Alumni: There is no application fee required for current Vermont Tech students or graduates. We encourage alums and current students to apply with a paper application. A fee is required for anyone applying on-line.
In-state tuition rates apply to students who have maintained legal residence in Vermont for at least one continuous year prior to enrollment. Out-of-state students seeking in-state status must submit a completed In-State Tuition Application, and supporting evidence, to be considered for in-state tuition.
Vermont Tech has a policy of "rolling admissions" for most majors. This means we process applications throughout the year until we determine that we have filled each semester's class. We reserve the right to close admission once the class is filled. Applicants will be notified promptly of admission status after review of a complete student file.
Because admission to selected programs is exceptionally competitive, decisions on applications to these programs are not normally made until the entire applicant pool has been received. The application deadlines for these selected majors are:
February 1: Practical Nursing, Veterinary Technology
February 15: Respiratory Therapy
March 1: Dental Hygiene
March 15: Associate’s Degree in Nursing
April 1: VAST
After the initial round of reviews, complete files are reviewed on a rolling admissions, space-available basis.
Accepted students must remit a tuition deposit of $200 on or before May 1 for the fall semester or December 15 for the spring semester. After these dates, deposits will be accepted on a space-available basis. The deposit is credited toward the first semester's bill and is non-refundable after May 1.
All freshman admission candidates are required to take either the SAT I or the ACT. Applicants who are already out of high school are not normally required to take either exam. The College Entrance Examination Board Code for Vermont Tech is 3941.
